Reflection #1
Wow this was harder than I thought! The first week of 20 percent time is finally over. In class, my partner and I spent time deciding what type of dish we should start off preparing. We couldn't decide whether or not we should make a breakfast, dessert or dinner type meal. After much debate, we realized that we should start out with the simplest one: desert! We went on paleocupboard.com and searched through various ideas. One instantly cought our attention: pumpkin bars! Not only does this sound yummy, but it's also in season. Today (Sunday) I went over Phoebe's house and we prepared the snack. It involved mixing a lot of spices together. A few new things that I learned today are that you should always put parchment paper on a pan and butter it! In addition, I learned that baking soda helps the dish rise in the oven. Though this may seem obvious, I didn't have a clue about any of this beforehand. Thanks to today, I learned the basics of baking. We created an Instagram dedicated to this project with all of the finished dishes that we make (behind the scene pics also included lol). Now we can move on to bigger and more challenging dishes!
