This past week, I began searching for other small projects to begin. I know that wasn't the best idea considering there's still a half-finished skirt draped over the chair next to my sewing machine. It's just difficult for me to finish tasks. I often find myself eager to begin new projects, but bored with them once they're underway. I thought that maybe if I attempted a to create something almost impossible for me to not finish, I would be motivated to pick back up on my skirt. I made a simple, unremarkable coin purse-type thing. I'm not really sure what to call it; it's pretty much just a cotton envelope. It didn't even inspire me to finish the skirt, so now I'm left with a weird little pouch and a half-finished skirt. I'm just going to force myself to finish the skirt right now, because it's taking me an absurd amount of time to get around to it. Knowing myself, that's how I'll have to finish every garment.
PART TWO
I finally hemmed the skirt! I would have finished it up by sewing in a zipper, but I don't have one. I guess buying one is next on my to-do list. I'm also thinking about lining it, but that's subject to change. All in all, I think it's coming along nicely. I also hemmed some of my mom's pants last week, which isn't really a 20% goal, but small tasks like these build my confidence and improve my skills. I'm excited to continue this project and to be back on track.
Hmmm, that sounds like a horrible way to accomplish a task you're passionate about! How can you make this a better experience? CAn you work on the task with someone else, so that it's more social and fun?
