Uhh, I know I haven't been updating the blog a lot, which is bad for various reasons, But here is the big update. I'm done. Yep, I've built a PC. Over the span of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, I've purchased; a case, graphics card, processor, ram, motherboard, and power supply. I managed to get a copy of windows for free, and put the computer together. Some problems I ran into were that I had bought a very small case, so putting it together was a headache. Also, dust will be a problem. I cannot use my graphics card, since the output on the card doesn't match the input on the monitor I have at home. Will update with pics of the guts.
Specs;
-R9 270X (G-Card)
-i5-4690k (processor)
-Asrock h97m (mobo)
-8GB Ballistix (RAM)
It sounds like you have had a fun weekend. Did you intentionally buy a small case? If you ask your tech people at school they might have a case they would be willing to 'donate' to you. (Actually, in my building I could probably scrounge enough parts from old 'dead' computers for you to have all sorts of fun.
ReplyDeleteI would love to hear your thoughts on the 20% time project. Do you find it a useful way to spend your time at school? Will you do more than one project a year? Have you seen any of your classmates working on something that made you more interested in their focus?

I bought a small case because i had a certain place for it in my desk. Time in school was valuable because sometimes busy schedules get the better of us, and a reminder to buckle down and work was valuable. Yes, more than one project.
