Reflection 14

This week I was able to fit in a lot of exercise.  I went to the gym 3 days during the week, but the days that I didn't go I was able to work out at home.  I went running and I lifted weights like usual. A few weeks ago my family opened our pool and this weekend it was ready to be used.  Swimming is a great way to do cardio and I plan on doing it a lot over the summer.  As the presentation for my project is coming up, I am looking back at my progress and comparing it to now.  During the next class period I hope to finish or almost complete my presentation.

Reflection 12 &13

These past few weeks I have been running and lifting.  I went down my shore house, where I have a bench press, and was able to lift weights.  It was one of the first times I ever lifted outside of school. This summer I will be using that bench press so it is good for me to start using it now.  Also when I was down the shore I went running.  It was nice because it was a change from my usual running route.  It was a shorter distance, but it is still enough to give me a good workout.  When I wasn't down the shore, I still went running and lifted during school. This is what I plan on doing for the next final weeks of this project.

Reflection 11

Last week was great.  I went to the gym and lifted weights.  I was also able to go outside and run twice.  My time for my 3 mile improved and I'm feeling much better as a runner.  Recently,  I've been sick and haven't been able to exercise.  Hopefully this won't set me back to far, as I plan to go the gym again when I return to school.

Reflection 10

It was just another week of lifting weights.  Everyday I went to the gym and worked out.  I did not do much cardio because this week I really anted to focus on lifting.  I only ran once over the weekend. Fortunately, it was better than my previous runs, so it just proves that I am becoming a better runner.
Next week I will still continue to go to the gym and lift, but I will try to run more outside of school.

Reflection 9

Recently I have been going to the gym to do muscle workouts.  Now I am using weights for exercises such as bench press, squats, and bicep curls.  I am somewhat giving up on my goal to do 60 push-ups as I want to focus on gaining more muscle with heavier workouts.  However, I will still attempt to do push-ups when weights are not available.  I haven't done cardio in almost a week which means I need to start running more.  This weekend I plan to go on a few runs depending on my schedule.  I know I have become a better endurance runner, now just need to work on my speed.

Reflection 8

Running is what I have been doing.  Every other day I went out and ran on my path.  I can already tell my goal will be achieved.  I will continue this running habit for a while.  I am not really focusing on my other workouts though.  I haven't been doing push-ups or pull-ups or any other type of muscle workout.  I'm going to start working out during co more so I can fit in these exercises.  I'm not sure if my goal of doing 60 push-ups will be done, but I will certainly try.

Reflection 7

This break was a very productive break.  Everyday I had gone outside and done at least some physical activity.  Some days I went on a run, other days I had baseball  practice, and other days I was playing sports with my friends.  All of the exercising I had done has really helped with my goals. It seems as if my running route is becoming too easy for me.  The first time I went running outside a few months ago I had a difficult time.  However, the past few times I ran my route it was much easier for me to finish it.  I'm not sure what it is exactly, but I can definitely feel myself becoming a better runner already.

Reflection 6

So far this week I have really pushed myself.  During gym class I broke my mile record time. It was 7:00 but now it is 6:55.  Even though it is not so much of a big improvement it is another step to being successful.  Now I'm going to work on my running endurance to accomplish my goal of running 2 miles in under 13:30. I have the speed but I need to run longer distances.  Over spring break I will run outside as much as I can.  I will also work on my push-ups and other muscle work outs.

Reflection 5

Much is to be accomplished.  I have not been on the schedule I was hoping to be.  Even though I said I would go to the gym everyday of the week I didn't.  I only went once.  Fortunately, I was able to put in some hard work during fitness class.  So this week wasn't a total failure, but it could of been better.  I have done a little research on running and learned some new tips that will hopefully help me with my goals.  This week I will go to the gym everyday, I just have to commit myself.

Reflection 4

This week I was able to accomplish a lot.  During every gym class I was able to lift weights and do a cardio exercise.  I was also able to do some cardio during baseball.  I also went for a run this weekend outside. I don't often run outside, which is unfortunate because I prefer it much more than running on a treadmill. Along with excising, I somewhat improved my eating habits.  Instead of eating junk when I am at home I try to eat more fruits.  I know its just a small improvement, but hopefully it will lead to better eating habits.

Reflection 3

Much progress has been made the past week.  I had my first week of baseball practice.  There, we weight lifted a few times.  Not every practice we do weights, but it really helps me.  Since we don't do much running at baseball, I am focusing on cardio during my gym class.  I always run during our warm-ups and when we have the period to workout on our own.  I am still not able to go to the gym during co because of PARCC. Once we gain our freedom back during co I will make sure I go to the gym everyday.

Reflection 2

The PARCC testing has really impacted my ability to go to the gym.  Now, and for the next week, I will not be able to go to the fitness center during co.  Fortunately, I had my baseball tryouts on Friday.  To my surprise we did weight lifting, which means I don't have to worry about lifting during school.  When co is available I will mainly focus on cardio.  This is great so now I don't have to rush my workouts during co.  For next week the only exercise I will be getting is from baseball so I will have to work harder when the fitness center opens.  I will also try to get in some physical activity on the weekend, but for now I have to rely on baseball for exercise.

Reflection 1

During the week I have done some research on work out schedules.  I figured out that working during co in school would be best for me since I can't go to a gym after school.  With exercising during co, I will run outside when I have the time at home.  Even though I have less than an hour in the co/lunch period it is still enough time to do what I want to do.  I plan to run 3/5 days of the week, and workout my muscles 2/5 days.  I haven't worked on my meal plan yet but I will soon.  Right now I am just trying to cut out the junk food and replacing them with healthier options.  Unfortunately I was unable to start exercising this week due to the messed up schedule for PARCC.  This will be going on for the next few weeks, so I will try my best to get to the fitness center on non-testing days and run as much as I can when I have free time at home.

Twenty Percent Time MP2

This marking period I would like to involve myself in a heavy workout schedule.  I've always loved to exercise and go to the gym, but recently I have not.  Last year I went to the gym in school almost everyday during co.  Now this year has been a bit busier and I haven't had the time.  I'm going to use this 20 Percent Project as a reason to start again.
My goals will be mostly cardio based, with some muscle training.  I'm not going to focus on lifting weights too much though, as I want to increase my running performance.  My main goal is to run 2 miles under 13.5 minutes.  Right now my mile time is 7.5 minutes, so I must improve my mile time as well as working on my endurance.  With running I will incorporate some body resistance training, such as push-ups, pull-ups, and crunches.  My secondary goal is to do at least 60 push-ups with no rest.  Right now I am able to do 40 push-ups with no rest.
Doing this will be a hard task, but as long as I have the dedication and motivation, it will be done.

Reflection 13

We filmed two more scenes this week.  We could have done more but due to meetings and other projects the actors' availability was limited.  Filming should be done soon.  Now I must plan what I am going to present to the class for the TED talk.

Reflection 12

During break I did nothing... because there was nothing to do.  The script is done and the only thing we have to do now is film and edit.  If we keep a steady schedule of filming during co it should be done promptly.

Reflection 12

This week did not go as planned.  Due to our grade's dance appreciation class my time, as well as the actors' time, was restricted.  Almost everyday during co-curricular we had to practice for dance.  We were only able to film one scene the entire week.  It really set back our production, but we can still work it out.  There is enough time to film all the scenes in school and edit it before the deadline.  Even with this setback I am determined to finish filming soon.

Reflection 11

This week was ok in terms of progress for the movie.  We have a few scenes filmed, and we had a lot of fun doing so.  The actors are great so far and seem really into their roles.  However, the only flaw of our filming is our audio.  When watching what we shot, it sounds kind of "cheap" because we are using the microphone that's on the camera.  I wanted to originally get a boom mic, but it turns out that those are more on the expensive side.  Hopefully it can be fixed when editing in January.

Reflection 10

The past week I have been getting the actors and everyone involved in the film.  I went over the roles with them so they have a better understanding of what their character is like.  Sailesh and I also went over the props that we need for the movie.  We don't need to much, but they are still vital to the props are still vital to filming.  Hopefully we will start filming on Wednesday, and finish before break.  If we have to we will film a few extra days after break too.

Reflection 9

The script is done.  I worked hard the past few days and committed many hours.  Even though it was very time consuming, I had a lot of fun working on it.  I really enjoyed being creative and writing what I was thinking in my head, which I rarely ever get to do.  I definitely have no regrets choosing to make a short film.
Ok so the script is done, now we have to start filming.  I am aiming to do so at the end of the week, Thursday or Friday, and continue filming until winter break.  Before we start filming though we will read over the script with everyone acting in the film.  Once the actors know and understand their roles, we should have no problems filming.
