This week, I finished learning all the Hindi alphabets. I prepared for my presentation tomorrow. I will be talking about my inspiration and what I learned throughout the whole process of learning Hindi. I will also talk about some of the challenges I faced during the process and how it was different than my previous twenty percent project, which was learning Kannada. This is the last reflection and I want to say that I enjoyed learning something that I always wanted. I wish to continue learning more in the future.

Reflection 14
This week, I reviewed the letters I have learned so far instead of learning more letters because I learned more than I needed to last week, so I wanted to make sure I knew what I had learned before moving on. Hopefully I will finish learning the alphabet by this week so I will have the weekend to practice the alphabets and maybe learn some words(not sure yet) and plan for my presentation.

Reflection 13
This week, while I was tracing the alphabets, I accidentally traced ten alphabets instead of the usual five, so I may repeat the last five I did this week. Other than that I think I am on track. I am almost done learning the alphabet. I just need to become more thorough with them and then I could start learning some words. Hopefully I am able to write a least some basic words for the presentation. I also watched some movies over the break and tried to listen to the actual dialogues instead of the subtitles. This worked a little, but they were talking too fast for me to understand. But I did understand more than I used to. Next week I will continue if not finish learning the alphabets.

Reflection 12
This week, I learned the next five letters of the alphabet. Since I have more time now, I am on track as to where I want to be at the end of May. I want to finish the alphabet by then so I can learn to write some words. I am also getting the hang of the letters and am not as confused about the letters as I used to be a couple of weeks ago. Next week, I will learn the next few alphabets.

Reflection 11
This week, I learned the next five letters of the Hindi alphabet. I think I am getting the hang of writing the alphabets, but I still need to improve. After I wrote/ traced the letters five times each, I closed the book and wrote out the whole alphabet from the beginning to see how much I remembered. This method works pretty well because I know what I know well and what I need to work on. Next week, I will learn the next few alphabets.

Reflection 10
This week, I once again traced the letters I have learned so far in the Hindi alphabets book I am using. I also learned the next five letters of the alphabet. After I retraced and rewrote all the alphabets I had learned. I closed the book and tried to write the letters on a white board without looking at the book. After the first time I did it, I did not get far with the alphabets. But when I tried the second and third time, I finally got it. I think this is a good way to test myself to see if I really know the letters.

Reflection 9
This week I traced and wrote out all the letters I had learned so far from the Hindi book I am using. I finally think that I have a handle on the letters. I am not as confused now because I noticed a pattern that was developing and followed that. This way, I now what comes after what. I also wrote out all the letters a white board to test myself to see if I have understood what I learned. I also watched a Hindi movie called Badlapur, where I picked up some Hindi words. Next week I will learn another set of letters and hopefully watch another Hindi movie if I have time.

Reflection 8
This
week, I continued to work on writing the alphabets. But in the past two weeks,
somehow it seems as though nothing is going through my head. I do try to expose
myself to more Hindi though, because it is easier for me to hear the words and
then right then ask my mom what it means than looking it up at a later time in
which I would have already forgotten what it is I was looking for. Learning
Hindi was definitely different than I thought because of all the different
stokes I am not used to. Next week I will work extra hard to catch up on all
the letters I have learnt so far.

Reflection 7
This week because of spring break, I was not able to do much Hindi writing, but I did watch one Hindi movie called Sur. Along the way, I tried to understand the Hindi language without looking at the subtitles. I did pick up some words such as faith and love. I will continue to write the alphabets next week.

Reflection 6
This week, I continued working on the past alphabets I had learned. Learning from a specific book with only hindi alphabets has helped a lot, but I am still having trouble remembering the past alphabets I have learned because the sounds are similar to Kannada, but there are some alphabets in Kannada that are not in Hindi, so I still need to get used to that. Hopefully I am still on schedule. I am planning to finish learning the alphabet by the end to April or mid May so I could start learning some words.

Reflection 5
This week, I continued to practice the letters I learned previously. Since the alphabets were hard to copy down from the internet, I relearned all the alphabets to make sure my strokes were correct. Now I am confident that whatever the book has is correct and I also believe that that the letters are in order, so it makes it easier for me to memorize. I hope to finish relearning all the letters I learned before and continue learning the alphabet. This is my goal for next week.

Reflection 4
This week I continued to practice the previous alphabets I had learned. I also learned the next five alphabets. Since Hindi is a language I was not familiar with before learning it, it is taking me a little longer to get through the alphabet. I hope to learn the alphabet, at least the first time through, by the end of April, so I have the rest of the time to learn to write some words. I realized that there are so many websites that that various ways of ordering the alphabets, for some reason. So, I decided to use a specific book in which I can trace the letters and write the letter next to it, to get the strokes right.

Reflection 3
This
week, I continued practicing to write the vowels. Then, I learned the next five
letters of the Hindi alphabet. I realized something this week that was
something that I hoped I did not. I realized that the Hindi alphabet is much
more difficult than the Kannada alphabet that I learned for the previous twenty
percent project. The letter sounds are different and even though there are some
similarities; there were some letters that are not in Hindi that are in
Kannada. That is a little different and hopefully it would not be too hard. I
will continue to rewrite the alphabet and learn the next five alphabets next
week.

Reflection 2
This
week, I continued to write the vowels and perfect it. I also learned the next
five letters of the Hindi alphabet. Compared to Kannada, Hindi actually seems
easier because it looks like it has simpler strokes, but I will soon find out
how it will actually be to learn and memorize. Next week, I will learn the next
few alphabets, and hopefully I could learn the whole alphabet in a few weeks,
so I could learn to write some words.
