Reflection 15

This is the last reflection for my 20% time project. I've been working for a pretty long time on this project. I'm glad to say that I've accomplished 1 of my goals. I am decent at juggling now, not great or bad. Just decent. For my presentation I decided doing a video would be so much more stress free than juggling live. I would probably mess up 1000 times in front of everyone. Also the average juggler can do it for about 20-30 seconds. So I will just see how many cascades I can catch in 30 seconds since I' not great at going continuously. I would say the biggest help to me this week was this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Acuaa8wFDsg

This video showed me wall juggling, which trains your muscles the exact movements of juggling in air. It was great and helped me a lot. This project was an interesting one and I'm glad I did it but also happy it's over.

Reflection 13

This week in 20 percent time wasn't really a good one. I did not practice at all because I was busy with projects and homework. However I decided that I will most likely be making a video for my final presentation. I think it would be much easier for me because there won't be a lot of pressure on me since it isn't live. I am still trying to figure out if I am going for time or catches but I will decide that eventually. It say the average person can juggle for 20-30 second so I guess I will aim for that.

Reflection 10

This week for my 20% project has not been the lost productive week. I did not have a lot of time to practice at all. I was busy with projects and frankly I have barely been home to practice this whole week. However I did make a big change of what I am juggling. Before writing this I tried out something new to juggle: golf balls. I was watching a few YouTube videos on juggling and one guy said he learned the easiest using golf balls. It makes sense because they are smaller than tennis balls which makes them easier to catch. This is a lesson on how sometimes change can be beneficial to your goal. So next week I will try that out some more and hopefully have more time to practice.

Reflection 9

This week in class we watched a few really cool Ted talks that were pretty inspirational. It made me realize why we are doing this 20 percent time project. We have to go outside of what the educational system lays out for us and do something we really want to do. This project gives us the opportunity to do this. I choose to juggle again because I felt I had to overcome my injury and not let it beat me. So now I feel like I'm going to try harder because now I have found my inspiration to do this project again. So anyway next week will hopefully be a great week for this project.

Reflection 7

This week was spring break but 20 percent time was still assigned. To be completely honest during break it was more like about 5% time because I was busy all week. I did find a little time to do it Friday night before I went out. However I was a little rusty from not doing it all weekend and the week. But I'm happy I remembered to do it for that 15 minutes I did it because that little time keeps your cycle going. So this week should be a good week to look forward to.

Reflection 6

This week in 20% time has been a normal one. Finally relay is over so I am not stressed out 24/7 anymore. Now I could practice juggling more than I did before. Trying to juggle relay and this project is like something you have to do in the real world. It taught me how to handle more then one important responsibility. To be honest it is challenging to do that and I guess that's how life is when you grow up.

Reflection 4

This week for my 20 percent project has been a normal one. A little practice and a little progress has been made. I can get 4-5 cascades in a row now if I'm really focused which is a lot better than what I was able to do before. I am pretty happy with this now becuase before I could barely get 1 or 2. So this has been a good 7 days. Also I've been trying to find a trick I'd be able to accomplish before my final presentation. I narrowed it down between doing 4 balls, yeah I know I can barely do 3. Or the other trick is after every cascade goingbg behind the back. I know that sounds really hard but I can already throws ball behind my back and catch it with the same hand ambidextrously (which means both hands). I don't really know where I got that from but I always did it in football practice so applying it to juggling won't be the hardest thing to do. Also next week relay will be over so I can practice even more.

Reflection 3

Once again this week for my 20% time was not the most successful week ever. I was so busy with homework and filming/preparing for Relay I did not have a lot of time to practice. However, the fashion show is over so that is one thing that is out of the way. Once relay is over I can finally concentrate on this project 100%. But in the little I did get to practice I got a few cascades in a row so that does show some progress. I am also trying to find a trick to learn for my final presentation, Hopefully the ticks won't be to hard t learn because juggling is already enough of a challenge.

Reflection 2

This week for my 20% time project was not very successful. However, juggling is all about patience and this week I had no patience. I was pretty stressed out this week because of Relay, the fashion show, and my promposal. So obviously juggling was not my biggest concern. When I tried to do it Tuesday I kept messing up and I just quit for the whole week. It could not focus on the project at all so I didn't get a lot done. This week I learned prioritizing is important and putting off one task for another is always helpful. Once Relay is over I will be fully free of all responsibilities and can have fun juggling again.

Second 20% Time Proposal

For my second 20% time project I want to try and do what my first project was. My goal is that I want to successfully juggle 3 balls in the air. Also I want to try a trick or two which could be a 4th ball or something like that. I want to do this again because honestly it sucked not accomplishing my goal. I had a whole semester to do something that shouldn't have been so hard for me to do and I could not get it. So this semester I will be trying a lot harder to get this goal and perfect it. Doing this again certainly will teach me to stay humble because I thought juggling would be so easy for me because of football. This 20% project will be very rewarding for me when I finally conquer it.

Reflection 11

This week for my 20% project has been a slow one. I had so much homework to do and couldn't practice all day due to an English. So overall I would say nothing has changed. Juggling is all about practice and I need to practice more. The presentations are less than a month so I need to get it mastered soon. I am very confident because over break I'll have a lot of free time so I can practice. I believe I can get it within the next two weeks over break. Then I can focus on the final presentation, which will be way better if I can actually juggle!

Reflection 10

The week for my twenty percent time project was a decent one. I am making good progress now being able to stand up again. When I first started this project it was for football. A lot of professionals who are the same position as me would learn how to juggle. One pro was on the high school juggling team before the football team. I thought it was easy but it really isn't. I guess it's natural for some people. To me my instinct is to hold on to a ball after I catch it from football, which is probably a reason why it's taking me so long to get this down. I have about a month to completely master this and get ready for our presentations which I am pretty excited about.

Reflection 9

Being able to stand up again has made a huge difference for my 20% time project. I couldn't stand up for about 6 weeks, which makes trying to juggle so hard because it ruins what I was use to. Finally, on December 4th I got of crutches and can actually practice the right way. Standing up lets you throw easier because your arms aren't in an awkward position.

I've been using this videos my friend told me about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T16_BVIFFPQ The guy is pretty weird but it does help. Honestly I feel that in the few days that Iv'e been standing I have been better than the month I had to sit. Standing up just feels more natural. I am making progress and have caught several in a row multiple times now. It is pretty exciting that I am doing better now!

Reflection 7

This week in my 20% time project has been a good one. The video my friend recommended for me is pretty helpful and I think I'll be where I want to be soon. The videos are so much easier to learn from than the still pictures. Seeing a person actually do it makes it seem easier than it actually is and trust me it isn't easy. I honestly didn't think it would take me this long to learn but I guess that was the point of doing this project. We were suppose to do something that wasn't necessarily easy and something to do for one week. I just cannot wait to finally get this thing done.

Reflection 6

The past two weeks have been very productive for me and my project. I caught multiple balls and even got a few in a row which is nice to know that I can actually do this. I also worked on a one hand-two ball juggle that is going along better. I feel pretty dumb because the whole time I've been trying to learn off of pictures. My friend who knows how to juggle recommended that I use videos to learn because he said he learned in no time at all.

The link is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T16_BVIFFPQ and he said he learned easily and is pretty good at it too.

I'm going to take his advice and try the vidoes and hopefully that will help my juggling process. When i first chose to learn how to juggle I thought it was going to be easy and take me a few hours because of being a receiver in football. I know now that isn't the case at all and watched a video on a NFL pro saying it took him months. So hopefully I am between the range of my friend and the pro and will have this done soon.

Reflection 5

This week hasn't been the best week of my 20% project. I've had a lot of free time to try and practice but I can't stand up. For me juggling while standing up is easier than when I am sitting down because I feel more natural standing. I guess now I have to try my best while sitting down which isn't the worst thing ever. Eventually I will be able to stand and finally get juggling down. For now I can work on tosses and one hand juggling. I also did catch a few complete tosses so I feel that I am now making progress. I am pretty excited that I am going to get this soon.

Reflection 4

I was out of school this whole week so I had a lot of free time to practice my 20% project. Also, this week I've started a two ball juggle with one hand and actually have improved it. It helps with more hand eye coordination and is pretty easy. However once again I am still trying to get the three ball juggle down. If that doesn't work soon then I can try to start new techniques of juggling. I am doing the normal underhand method but some other variations might be easier. I feel that I need to practice a little more than I already am if I am going to master juggling. It is a pretty daunting task I'd say but I am just going to keep practicing and eventually it'll come to me.

Reflection 3

This week I have been continuing to practice the three ball juggling and have actually caught it a few times. The thing is that it isn't easy to redo the cycle and keep the three balls up. However getting the rotation isn't that bad anymore and I think ill get that down in a couple of weeks. When I first researched juggling they said it can take anywhere from two weeks to two years to learn. I hope that I am closer to the two weeks than two months. I'll just keep practicing and I feel that I am getting closer. Also I am starting a two hand juggle with one hand to help hand eye coordination and even with other juggles.

Reflection 2

I learned this week that juggling with 3 balls will not be easy as it seems. First of all you have to have a good position and master the scooping technique which is easier said then done. Secondly, it is all about concentration being able to catch the third ball simultaneously as you catch the first one. It is pretty frustrating trying to do this because I've messed up about 1000 times. I did however catch it one time which made me feel better but then I dropped it trying to throw it back up. I am getting the feel for it but this is going to take a lot of practice. They say learning how to juggle can take 2 weeks to 2 months but I am confident that I will get this down. This week I hope to get down the first throw and catch. Then the rest of my 20% time is just practicing because once you get that down it is just repeating the process over and over again. I am aiming to master this in a few weeks.

Reflection 1

I started my project at the beginning of the week and learned that starting out with three balls is to hard when juggling. So first I started using one ball learning how to properly throw the ball. Once I felt I was good with that doing it smoothly without a problem I moved to two balls. That also took a little practicing in how to properly throw the balls without messing up. I feel that I have that down too. Next week I am trying three balls to see how it is but if it is to hard I can just go back to two. This is all a matter of practicing and focusing on the juggling. Hopefully by next week I can get three balls in the air.
